Previously thought to be (a) way off the radar, then (b) not worthy of being on the radar in the first place, the Chris Columbus directed film Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief is now somehow creeping onto not only my radar, but also my watch-list. Sure, its a kid-friendly, Harry Potter-esque version of Clash of the Titans, but this trailer looks like a bit of fun. It certainly has an elevated feeling compared to other kid adventure stories such as Eragon.

The film tells the story of Percy Jackson (Logan Lerman, Gamer), a high school student who learns that he’s the son of Poseidon, god of the sea. He is soon drawn into the world of Olympus, where he must join other demigods in the search for a thief who has stolen Zues’ lightning bolt. Without the bolt in the hands of Zues (Sean Bean), the entire universe could be in big trouble. I don’t know about all of you — but weak story or not, this movie shows some promise. Prove me wrong by watching below, then hitting the comment section.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief hits theaters on February 12, 2010.

See I loved the books growing up. So this is like watching the narnia series on the big screen. So i Can't wait to see what lies with in these movies. If they continue the series.

I have to say, as a big fan of this book, I was at first a bit peturbed by the casting choice, and the teaser trailer did nothing for me. But this, THIS, looks great! Though the CGI could use some more work (but really, when is that not an issue now a days?) I think this shows real promise to be true to the books, and make the story that much cooler
  • there are some glimpses in there of a pretty good cast. Pierce Brosnan, Sean Bean, Uma Thurman, and of course Brandon 'Booty Sweat' Jackson

It looks cheesy, but fun. I may have to see this one.
