Pedophiles! Transform and roll out!

voltron.jpgThe popular ’80s anime series VOLTRON is slated for a live-action film adaptation.

New Regency, a 20th Century Fox affiliate, and, Mark Gordon Co., producers of the series GREY’S ANATOMY, are nearing a deal on developing the film, according to Variety.

This is undoubtedly due to the success of Michael Bay’s TRANSFORMERS, which leaves one wondering which ’80s cartoon about shape-shifting robots will be adapted next.

GOBOTS? MIGHTY ORBOTS? How about TURBO TEEN, the one about the kid who turned into a Trans Am when he got hot, then turned back into a human when he got cold?

Wait — Michael Jackson already has dibs on that idea … sort of. As you may recall, several years ago, director Kevin Smith said he was approached to helm a flick called ”Hot Rod,” in which Jacko would morph into a car. Then, a little boy would ride around inside him. No joke.

Smith told Playboy magazine back in April 2004 (see, I really do read it for the articles!) “’In retrospect, I’d love to make that movie. But it wouldn’t be anything like the version Jackson or the studio wanted to see.”
