Ridiculous! This was the best of the trio. Remaking this film for US audiences will ruin it. It does not follow the paradigm of American cinema. It is the type of tale US audiences hate. Protagonists making poor decisions that lead to terrible consequences and an unhappy ending all in a pacing and structure that will “bore” people.
Samiam0605 nailed it. Americans want action, not much else.

I'll jump on the boat of not being a fan of this. I'm not always against remakes, but like it is mentioned in the article this film is doomed before it begins. Unlike in Oldboy and Sympathy for Lady Vengence, the main character or characters are not as liekable. I love the movie but I can't imagin many of the vast American audience enjoying it. I have friends who loved Oldboy but didn't care for the other two, based on the fact that Oldboy and I quote “Had really kick-ass action scenes man”. If Hollywood has to remake one of the vengence movies I say let it be Oldboy. Would it going to be as good as the original? Probably not, but thats because I don't think Hollywood has the balls to do the sick things that Park Chan did in that masterpiece. I could always be wrong though.

These remakes are at least a better idea than a J.S.A. remake set between the US and Mexico.
