Paramount 2008 Preview: Cloverfield

Our Paramount Pictures 2008 Preview rolls on with what could be the first major Blockbuster of the year, Cloverfield. The J.J. Abrams produced monster flick has been more than mysterious since its teaser trailer debuted in front of Transformers over the July 4 weekend. Directed by Matt Reeves, Cloverfield has become one of the most intelligently marketed films of 2007 — and no matter how good or bad it turns out to be, it may turn out to be one of 2008’s highest grossing flicks as well. In fact, it is that sort of savvy marketing that allowed Paramount to hit the $1 billion dollar mark faster than any other studio in 2007. That and Transformers, of course. Take a look at two new stills from the film below.

Official Synopsis: Five young New Yorkers throw their friend a going-away party the night that a monster the size of a skyscraper descends upon the city. Told from the point of view of their video camera, the film is a document of their attempt to survive the most surreal, horrifying event of their lives.
