‘Oz the Great and Powerful’ Gets a Poster Worthy of Its Title

Right around the time that the 67th poster of two stars leaning back to back hits theater lobbies is when the pessimism about modern one sheet design starts to creep in. Fortunately, there’s always a handful of excellent posters dotting the year to keep hope alive.
Thank you, Oz the Great and Powerful poster, for keeping hope alive:
This won’t be the first adaptation of “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” (because this is), but Sam Raimi‘s take starring James Franco, Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams and Rachel Weisz hits theaters March 8, 2013.
Hopefully this gorgeous poster means we’re only a month or two away from seeing a trailer of some sort. Of course, any movie can potentially get great marketing prints, but the Alice in Wonderland pedigree promises some outstanding visuals in a mass-scale fantasy world, and the Raimi pedigree promises human characters and a great story. This is undoubtedly one of the most highly anticipated movies of next year and now it’s got a beautiful piece of advertising to announce it to the world.
