Are Pumas the new cougars? Is Jennifer Aniston old? Is Wayne McClammy anyone you’ve ever heard of?
Variety reports that a new romantic comedy from CBS Films will 1) be called Pumas, and 2) will star Jennifer Aniston. Aniston will play one of two women in their thirties who date younger men. In Pumas, the two friends (and maybe a couple of their lovers?) take a ski trip to the French Alps, where they no doubt learn something about their men, their selves, and the world at large.
Awww. How boring-and-probably-ultimately-cute-and-sweet. Except for a few things I’m already taking issue with here. First of all, I don’t think Jennifer Aniston is old or stocky enough to be likened to any predatorial feline, besides for maybe Michelle Pfeiffer’s version of Catwoman. Maybe. Second, why did Variety highlight that Wayne McClammy is directing this movie? I don’t care if he directed Citizen Kane (spoiler alert: he didn’t), that name is ten gallons of creepy. Third, Pumas? Really, writer Melissa Stack? That’s the best you could do? You understand that pumas are not the thirty-something version of cougars? If we’re going to use the term ‘cougar’ and deem it legitmate, can’t we just call this movie Young Cougars? Young Cougars sounds straight gangster.
Ugh. Here’s hoping that Aniston is decked out in K-Swiss or donning some sweet throwback BK Lights for the entire movie.
Say, where’d you get those fresh Pumas, bro? (Does ANYONE get that reference?)
