I was surprised researching film music winners and found almost nothing even in the golden age of Westerns. I would think one of those classics would have won something. I feel like it is at once both fresh and classic. The main theme (The 3:10 to Yuma) is quintessential Western theme made new again. I'm pulling for it. While I agree Westerns are often ignored, when they actually get noticed and nominated (rarely) they manage to pull in Oscars. Young Guns won "Best Original Song" and Unforgiven, of course, did well.
