What an awesome argument! That's what makes FSR awesome Drew no deleted comments for disagreeing here. There's a certain other site that doesn't allow my comments through there moderators if it is a well thought out argument against the posters opinion - but does let through the boneheads that say "UUUHH Fuck this!"

No apology necessary Drew! Like I said above, I'm currently reading the book now, and it is pretty damn good. I still have high expectations for the film based on the talent involved and the stills we've seen so far. Audiences at test screenings are notoriously obnoxious partially because they feel they may have some sway over the film in question. I don't give their opinions on such a rough cut (or any cut) any real weight, I only referenced them as a possible reason for the delay.

And half the fun of the comments section involves rants, arguments, and good-natured insults... just ask any fan of the upcoming Twilight movie...

ps. I hope tomorrow is a better day for you!

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to call you out like that. It's just that The Road is my favorite book of
all time and Cormac McCarthy is my favorite author ergo The Road is the most anticipated
film of my life so far. And it seems like the news and hype surrounding it get worse and
worse every day. I had a rough day as it was, and seeing this article sent me overboard and I
needed to rant. Again, a thousand pardons for singling out the author. It's not your fault
that the Road seems to be headed downhill. (pun maybe intended)

Don't worry Drew, we would never delete a comment like that -- as you said, you did follow the guidelines.

Though, I would like to point out that using a line such as:

"Maybe you don’t understand this, after all you’re writing for 'Film School Rejects'."

... is incredibly lazy and unoriginal. Everyone says that, dude.

@ Drew, Please note that I said The Road "appears to be heading for" a 2009 release, and that the screening was in an "admittedly unfinished state." And why would we delete your comment? Your opinion is at least as valid as mine.

Oh, and thanks for the head's up on the misspelling of Viggo's name. I've corrected it so anal twats going forward won't be irked.

Thanks for visiting FSR! Hope to hear from you again soon!

I'm having a tough time taking this article seriously. For one, it has not been confirmed
that The Road has been moved til 2009, all we know for sure is that it's not ready for its
intended Nov 24 release. In addition, I've read as many reviews from the NYC test
screening as possible and as a whole the positives clearly outweigh the negatives,
whereas here you quote yourself (without seeing the film) with “awful, repetitive, awful,
annoying, awful, disjointed, awful.” Besides, this is a very rushed, rough cut for a test
screening, which is not supposed to be cinema gold. Maybe you don't understand this,
after all you're writing for "Film School Rejects". I would expect a film school reject to
connect Downey, Foxx and Mortensen (Nice job spelling 'Mortensen' wrong by the way) with "Weird Science", "Bootie Call" and "nude steam-bath wrestling" respectively. Any
other sensible person would equate Foxx with say his Oscar win or nomination? Or
Mortensen with his Oscar nom? I also expect you'll delete this post, but I don't see why
since I followed your comment policy by arguing intelligently. Maybe you should take
some of your website's advice, after all your article is more opinionated than factual.

Unfortunately a March release is a death sentence for Oscar potential. There are too many films released toward the end of the year as Oscar bait and they only nominate 5 to 6 in each category. Most early release fall off the radar unless the film is absolutely amazing or the performances are. Movies must be release by christmas to be considered tfor the following Oscars which is why you see films like "The Curious Case..." and Australia. The studios are blaming the writers' strike for the push backs. They have nothing to release in 2009 because of the strike.

You know what other film was "dumped" from the Oscar race?

The Godfather - So it went on to win at the NEXT Oscars a year later.
