
Oscar Beat: Behind the Sound of Transformers

Right of the heels of posting a very awesome new Verizon commercial starring Michael Bay, I have some more Transformers related stuff for you. This time, we go to Variety’s Red Carpet District Blog to get a look at the inner-workings of sound design team Greg Russell and Kevin O’Connell.
It goes without saying that Transformers was a visual spectacle unlike anything else we saw this year, but did you notice the amazing sound mix? You may have wondered who made the sounds of the robots transforming. You may have also been impressed with the pounding of the military helicopters in the opening ten minutes of the film. As you will see below, the two sound designers may not have had the most glorious jobs on the production, but they were a huge part of creating the experience that was Transformers.
