‘Orphanage’ Duo Team Up for Mysterious New Project

Director Juan Antonio Bayona and writer Sergio Sanchez, the duo behind the spectacular 2007 thriller The Orphanage are teaming up once again for what Variety is saying will be Bayona’s second feature film.
They are also saying that the film will be shot sometime in the spring of 2010 and is being described as a “powerful story, based on true facts, whih poses a large technical challenges.” My normal distaste for the phrase “true facts” aside, that is a concept that I can get behind. Bayona was very ambitious with his work on The Orphanage and was right to pass on directing Twilight 3: The Eclipse. As a director, he seems to have more to say and it’s good to see him working with some original material.
As to what that original material is all about, we have no idea yet. Telcinco Cinema and Apaches Entertainment, the two financing companies on the project, are said to be presenting more about the film later on at the Cannes Film Festival. So stay tuned for more as this story develops.
