This movie was a wet dream for Harry Knowles. Either he's yanking our chains, he was on acid while writing his review, or this movie is the single greatest martial arts movie ever. I'm preparing to be amazed. Tony is the man. For any newcomers to the martial arts scene…watch “Ong Bak”, watch “The Protector”, then treat yourself to a gem of a movie called, “Chocolate”. It's basically about an autistic girl who learns martial arts by watching Tony Jaa and Bruce Lee movies. It has the same bone crunching action as Tony's movies and builds to a pretty crazy finale. It also has the most painful credits I have ever watched – lots of dudes got hurt bad while making this movie (and they show it during the credits)!

Ong Bak 2 boring?! i can't recall exlaiming 'ooooh shit son' during a movie as much as i did for this. the fighting was great. come on, he kicked one guy in a manner that caused said dude's chin to get kneed full on when he fell! i believe this was after he made an elephant bow down after coming down on it an overhead blow. AN ELEPHANT. mirror match out of nowhere was weird and the ending was bullshit, but i couldn't even be mad.

Yes, I was loaded with hyperbole and Japanese beer… and yes, the movie was too long and had a few too many dragging scenes… but damnit it rocked!

And the new edit is leaner, meaner, tighter, and the best martial arts fighting movie ever made in Thailand!

I watched this movie wayyy back in February, in fact it's still on my hard drive. A dvd quality cut is available on any torrent site because this has already been released on home video in its native Thailand.

Anyway I definitely liked it, I gave it a B+, but as someone who has seen a bunch of martial arts flicks including Tony Jaa's previous two movies, I have to say it doesn't live up to the hype. Strangely enough it's also his best movie. The noticeably bigger production budget allowed for better set design, better acting, etc. As Neil states, the movie drags a bit when goes into story time. About the action..it's good, very good, and the last 20-25 min are amazing, yet it's not the best I've ever seen. I think it was one of those “been there, done that” type thing, and if I hadn't seen Tony's other movies I would have truly been blown away. That and I prefer hand to hand over weapons fighting, and he does the latter more. Maybe my standards were too high, I went in expecting this to be the end all, be all of martial arts movies.
