[Note: To those who caught this trailer right after I posted it, I apparently uploaded the wrong one. The new one, as you can see now, actually shows the Crystal Skull, it also shows a plane flying over what looking to be some "markings" in a farm land and it has a series of people yelling "Jones!", just in case we didn't know his name... Sorry about the error. All is fixed now.]
As if just for good measure, the folks at Paramount Pictures have released yet another full-length trailer for the upcoming blockbuster-to-be Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. This time around you will notice that not a lot has been changed from the trailer that was just launched via the film’s official site — in fact, I had to watch them side-by-side once just to be sure — but trust me, this one has some new stuff. One thing that I found to be new is a really anti-climactic, soft end to it. Instead of charging out with a fury of kickass imagery and iconic Indy moments, it sort of starts quick and then putters to a close. My hope is that the film doesn’t follow suit.
I may or may not have said this before, but I have been thinking it for a while — Indiana Jones 4 is the film that worries me the most this summer, in a very serious way. I know that there are fans of the series who have been waiting most of my life for this movie to finally come to fruition, but for some reason I still feel as if there is a lack of energy in its final thrust toward its release on May 22nd. It is not due to a lack of marketing, or even poor marketing for that matter, but rather a lack of interest, possibly from the younger generation. As a fan of the franchise, I hope that my gut instinct is wrong here, but I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Indy doesn’t live up to the hype that is 20 some odd years in the making.
What do you think, will Indy 4 live up to the hype? Will it perform well at the box office, despite being in the middle of the most competitive month of the summer?
