Here is what you should be picking up at your local retailer today:

Rent (Widescreen 2 Disc Edition)
The Broadway phenomenon is now on DVD. Jonathan Larson’s award winning play turned film chronicles the lives of aspiring artists in New York City. They are forced to come to the reality of their surroundings, which are laden with drug addiction and AIDS.

Our 2 Cents: We will have a full review for you in the next few days…

North Country (Widescreen Edition)
The true story of the nation’s first class-action sexual-harassment lawsuit is dramatized in this fictionalized take on history starring Charlize Theron as a single mom who takes on the bosses over her degrading treatment while working at a Minnesota steel mine. Frances McDormand, Sissy Spacek, Sean Bean, Michelle Monaghan and Woody Harrelson co-star. Theron and McDormand both earned Oscar nominations for their performances.

Our 2 Cents: We should also have a full review shortly on this film.

The Weather Man, Domino and Ultimate Avengers after the jump…

The Weather Man (Widescreen Edition)
Nicholas Cage plays a shallow Chicago weatherman whose career is on the fast track, but his life is a mess. Off camera he is forced to deal with being divorced, estranged from his children, and constantly unable to connect with his Pulitzer winning father, played by Michael Caine. As IMDB says:

Director Gore Verbinski attempts a satire of a culture of manhood that lacks a sense of responsibility, self-control, and emotional investment in others, but it’s finally just about a self-involved guy who makes lots of money for doing very little work, incessantly whines about his uselessness, and is so lacking in empathy you have to wonder: why should we care about this loser?

Domino (Widescreen Edition)
Keira Knightley plays real life Domino Harvey, international model and daughter of actor Laurence Harvey who left the bright lights of the runway and her socialite lifestyle for a career as a bounty hunter. Mickey Rourke plays her mentor and her boss, the leader of an infamous group of L.A. bounty hunters (which includes Edgar Ramirez and Rizwan Abbasi), Delroy Lindo is a bail-bondsman who hires them, and Mo’Nique, Lucy Liu, Christopher Walken, Mena Suvari, Macy Gray and Jacqueline Bisset co-star. Tony Scott, who was a friend of the real life Domino (who died of drug overdose in 2005), directs.

Ultimate Avengers (Widescreen Edition)
Steve Rogers, also known as Captain America, returns to the world after being frozen in ice for 60 years. It’s a different world. A world that needs heroes. With Iron Man, Thor, Wasp, Giant Man, and others, he forms a team to preserve justice in our chaotic times. Together they are The Avengers.
