Despite the lack of Ghostbusters 3 rumors this week, Ivan Reitman is still getting himself into the news quite a bit. It must have something to do with him being hard at work casting his next film, Friends with Benefits. He began with two leads — Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher — and has since added two indie darlings, Greta Gerwig (Greenberg) and Olivia Thirlby (Juno).

The Wrap broke the news today that Thirlby has joined the cast, and will play the sister of Natalie Portman’s character in this film, described as an “inverse version of When Harry Met Sally.” The story revolves around “two people whose no-strings-attached relationship is threatened when they begin to develop true romantic feelings for one another.” Sounds a bit on the side of formula, but the cast seems to be filling out well. Except for that Ashton Kutcher. After his less than interesting performance in Valentine’s Day, I worry about that guy.

Also, for those of you thinking that Ivan Reitman will be this film’s saving grace, I urge you to think again. Reitman’s last three directorial efforts were My Super Ex-Girlfriend, Evolution and Six Days Seven Nights. He’s not exactly on the up-swing here. However, it needs to be said that a little bit of Olivia Thirlby is a good addition to any film.
