Officially Cool: The Kevin Smith Casting Chart

This is going to seem really silly, but for a die hard Kevin Smith fan like myself, this is actually very cool. In fact, it appears that the guys and gals at NewsAskew agree, as they are the ones who directed us to this. Wikipedia, the end-all-be-all source of knowledge on the internet (not all factual knowledge, but knowledge nonetheless) has updated Kevin Smith’s official entry with a chart that shows some of the most frequently cast people in his movies. This list includes a lot of the obvious culprits like Jason Mewes, Ben Affleck and Jason Lee. It also includes some other interesting folks like Dwight Ewell (Hooper X in Chasing Amy), who has been in 3 of Smith’s films. If we are all lucky, this chart will include a lot more Seth Rogen in years to come, as he stars in Smith’s next movie Zack and Miri Make a Porno, due out later this year. For now though, enjoy the chart below.

Jason Lee was NOT in Clerks (1994), he was still skateboarding then. His first film with Smith was Mallrats. He was however, an annoying customer in Clerks II rocking the Earl stash.

Jason Lee is awesome, I really wish he was cast in the new movie… although I don’t really know enough about the storyline to see if he would fit. I miss the way Kevin Smith’s movies used to be.
If his MTVU work is anything to go by, hopefully his movies will make a return to their roots

I also hope Rosario Dawson appears in more K Smith movies. She was cute as hell in Clerks 2!

officially uncool- every single one of kevin smith’s films. talk about the special olympics of filmmaking. check out his boxoffice results sometime. snooooze. boxoffice results aside, tho. i hate kevin smith’s films. they’re shoddily made and never as funny as they think they are. although, i like his work on ‘reaper’. hopefully, he keeps going in that direction…

Kevin Smith makes brilliantly cool movies. Of them all though, I prefer anything to do with Jay and Silent Bob. That is one hilarious combo. “He’s my hetero lifemate.” -Jay
I do agree with Neil though. The more Seth Rogen anywhere, the better!

Jason Lee is the man, but some of his stuff scares me
