Officially Cool: Kevin Smith in ‘Southland Tales’
Movie News By Neil Miller on September 20, 2007 | 1 Comment
How could anyone think this is a bad idea? Kevin Smith all made up to look like some crazy Kung Fu commando? I love it. From the guy who brought us into the lives of Clerks and gave us a Biblical Poop monster combined with the guy who created Donnie Darko, comes the character of Simon Thiery in the upcoming flick Southland Tales.
Here is the plot summary, courtesy of IMDB:
- Southland Tales is an ensemble piece set in the futuristic landscape of Los Angeles on July 4, 2008, as it stands on the brink of social, economic and environmental disaster. Boxer Santaros (Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson) is an action star who’s stricken with amnesia. His life intertwines with Krysta Now (Sarah Michelle Gellar), an adult film star developing her own reality television project, and Ronald Taverner (Seann William Scott), a Hermosa Beach police officer who holds the key to a vast conspiracy.
It has one of those “What the duece?” plots, but what can you expect after seeing Donnie Darko? This Richard Kelly guy doesn’t make formulaic, drab films. That is what we love about the guy. The other thing to love about Southland Tales is the very delicious cast, including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who is going to need something great to take the sting off of The Game Plan. It also includes Sarah Michelle Gellar, who hasn’t really had a solid role lately, either. The film also stars Will Sasso, Mandy Moore, Sean William Scott, Jon Lovitz and Miranda Richardson.
Southland Tales will go into limited release on November 9, 2007.
