Officially Cool: A Jedi Peter Griffin and an Alex Ross-Drawn Cheerleader

Posted by Neil Miller (neil@filmschoolrejects.com) on September 7, 2007

Today seems to be a good day for my new “Officially Cool” articles. In this particular series, I will bring you things from the web that are interesting enough to give my official stamp of approval. Why me? Because I’m cool, that’s why. Any other questions? In this particular edition, I have a movie poster and a comic book cover, both from TV shows. Go figure.

The first came to me from my good friend John over at The Movie Blog. On September 23 at 9pm, the hit Fox TV show “Family Guy” will re-enact, in their own way, the epic tale of Star Wars. We got a little preview of this from Seth MacFarlane and crew at Comic Con, but this will be the first real public look at the upcoming event. The show will be called “Family Guy: Blue Harvest”. The fantastic poster is below:

Our second “Officially Cool” item comes to us by way of IESB, our rumor-mongering friends from the West Coast. But unlike a lot of the other stuff we look to them for, i.e. updates on the Justice League movie debacle, this is 100% true and 100% badass. Legendary comic artist Alex Ross has been tasked out to create one of two covers for a comic book based on the hit NBC series “Heroes”. The book will hit stores on November 7, while the second season of “Heroes” will begin on September 24. The other cover will be drawn by another legendary comic artist, Jim Lee. Take a look at Ross’ cover below:

Keep it locked right here to Film School Rejects, where we vow to bring you all that is cool, all that is fanboy and all that is tastefully irreverent toward Hollywood.

What do you think of this feature? Do you have something “cool” that you’d like to share with the rest of the class? Let me know at neil@filmschoolrejects.com.
