No Boobs For You! Terminator Salvation Rated PG-13?

Damn you Zack Snyder and damn your Watchmen!  The blame for this distressing piece of news falls squarely on your shoulders…

The upcoming Terminator Salvation has had a big, metallic question mark hanging over it’s MPAA rating since director McG first came on board.  Could the creator of shit like Charlie’s Angels deliver a violent, kick-ass R-rated Terminator film?  The issue surfaced repeatedly at various conventions with McG swearing last year that he was given no mandate by WB in regards to the rating… if it’s an R it’s an R he said.  This year’s WonderCon saw much of the same but with a hint of desperation.  He appealed to the audience by saying an R-rated Terminator: Salvation would feature a topless and wet Moon Bloodgood… while a PG-13 version would not.  Then he asked the crowd which they preferred.  Personally, and especially with the lovely Miss Bloodgood there on stage, I found the entire exchange tasteless, sexist, and childish.  But goddamn I cheered for that R-rating…

AICN has recently reported that those throaty cries of virgins and online press reporters alike was all for naught as the film has likely received a PG-13 rating.  Their source?  This Pizza Hut web site featuring a tie-in with the film… and a PG-13 rating at the bottom of the page.  Distressing news indeed (if it holds true).  Although a single pair of hot, wet breasts have appeared in PG-13 films before… hell, Gene Wilder’s The Woman in Red was PG-13 and featured Kelly LeBrock’s lips.  Both pairs.  So there’s still hope…

If true, the question becomes why would WB want a PG-13 Terminator for the first time in the franchise’s history?  Generally speaking, the lesser rating allows for more ticket buyers and higher box-office.  Specifically speaking, the studio has already seen one high profile, R-rated film underwhelm financially (and no, I’m not claiming Watchmen bombed).  Leaving Bloodgood’s glorious orbs aside, a PG-13 also implies a softer, less violent and intense film than Terminator’s past, but that may not necessarily be the case.  The MPAA is a fucked-up group of nazis who may look upon futuristic “sci-fi violence” differently from real world violence… and yes, the previous films also involved robots but they were in present day settings.  (I know.  It’s a reach.)  And let’s not forget The Dark Knight was a PG-13 too…

What do you think of a PG-13 Terminator film?  Did I cross a line by referring to Kelly LeBrock’s vagina?

  • Sounds like some bullshit to me. This is the fucking Terminator. Watchmen didn't break box office records because at least 70% of the movie going population didn't know what a Watchman was or why Blue Hulk was always naked. Everyone and their mother knows Terminator. Even T3 did well at the box office and people didn't like it. So you take a franchise people will see no matter what and then put in Christian Bale in it with hotties Bryce Dallas Howard and Moon Bloodgood and you've got a winner Rated R movie.

Though honestly if the boobs are the only thing standing in the way of the rating, then it's probably ok to leave the boob shot for the DVD.

You know, to be honest, I'm fine with having a PG-13 Terminator. I don't really think that the Terminator franchise relies on the graphic violence and the language like the Die Hard franchise does. I think that a PG-13 Terminator could definitely be as violent (minus the stomach punch) as T3 and still be PG-13. And if the boob shot is the one thing that would give it an R-rating, than just cut the boob shot. If you're really that desperate, that's why we have the Internet.

Terminator doesn't rely on graphic violence? Are we talking about the same blade-arm-through-the-face, arm-skinning, eye-ball gouging, shotgun-toting, street-punk-slaughtering, Terminator here?

But yeah, I agree that a boob shot doesn't make much sense (though I do recall a couple of boob shots in the original Terminator, back before Linda Hamilton got all buff/hot).

If you want to see Moon flash a boob, rent "What Just Happened" with Robert DeNiro.
    Good movie. Nice boob.

Anyway, Am i the only person who thinks this is just some ploy for the studios to make a few extra bucks?
Lots of advanced press on the content and the rating, release the PG-13 version in the theaters, which piss off the fans who wanted an R rated actioner, then the "unrated" version on DVD so moviegoers will see it again to catch what was cut.

    Thank you Dr. Obvious
"Lots of advanced press on the content and the rating, release the PG-13 version in the theaters....then the "unrated" version on DVD so moviegoers will see it again to catch what was cut".
Which is just one of the many reasons I don't see many movies in theaters.
50 inch plasma, 7.1 sound, beer and soda and chips and dips, and if I have to go take a wiz I just pause the damn thing.

I wouldn't blame Snyder for the failure of Watchmen, blame all the morons who wanted something akin to Spider-Man and Fantastic Four, and all the snobs who, for some strange reason, thought it was a poor adaptation of the novel. They're the unappreciative movie-goers who are to blame for this PG-13 rating-- I bought my ticket. Or why not blame The Dark Knight? Perhaps without it's insane haul of PG-13 cash this could have been avoided. Or maybe the real people at fault are all the prudes and idiotic parents in America who are fine with copious amounts of gore, just so long as there isn't any nudity-- children can watch people get cut in half, but god forbid they see a nipple.

Also, does the PG-13 rating automatically equal no boobs? Titanic had boobs and a PG-13 rating... and I can't think of any other recent examples.
  • The Following Is A Rant:
My real problem is with the MPAA, stupid and arbitrary opinions as to what the kiddies should be allowed to watch, and censorship in general.
It's perfectly fine to show death and dismemberment, blood being spilled, and violence in general, but show them a flash of boob and they;re going to grow up twisted. This Is FUBAR. Where are the parents? I raised 4 kids and they are all in good mental health (as far as I know) and I let them watch movies and shows that were rated as age inappropriate. Why, you may ask. Well it's because I WAS THERE WITH THEM TO EXPLAIN if there were questions and to explain THIS IS A MOVIE and not real life.Janet Jackson flashed a tit at the Super Bowl? the reaction was WTF? They regarded it as probably the product of a deranged mind.
They knew how babies are made as soon as they had the intelligence to ask.
Hell, I watched some of the first season of "Dancing With The Stars" The professional women dancers were wearing less than some women wear on on a Brazilian Beach. I didn't care for it because of the hipocracy of showing that in a Family Viewing Time Slot.

When it comes to your breasts, especially enlarging or augmentating them can be a solution if you always complain about them being small but to get your breasts bigger or marire sani isn't risk free either. I have heard of lots and lots of problems but we shouldn't be too concerned. Always get informed.
