Thanks to a little positive buzz form the surprise screening in Austin and some positive reviews from premieres around the world, J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek seems to be the talk of the town. And as Paramount can now smell the blood of this wounded animal known as the public conscience, they have kicked the marketing machine into warp speed and are now firing everything they’ve got at us. Which leads us to the new TV spot, which can be seen below. It is a high energy, rock-infused 30-second shot of this new generation of Trek, one that specifically calls out the fact that it is “Not Your Father’s Star Trek.” While that statement may be true, it also does have reverence for your father’s Star Trek, which is a nice added bonus.

Star Trek is in theaters on May 8, 2009.

I'm 25 and i have seen pretty much all the star trek movies over the years. And i kinda think its an insult depending on what they really mean by "this is not your fathers star trek". I liked tng and ds9 best out of all of them. And if you saying that it will be nothing like it then they should call it something else and not star trek. This movie looks cool but don't look like star trek. I always wanted a lot of battles in the trek movies like i see in the new one but only thing that looks like star trek is the uniforms.
