Pixar may be on the cusp of their very first Best Picture nomination with Wall-E, but that doesn’t mean they’re resting on their CGI laurels. Their new film, Up, comes out next May and a new trailer has just been released. Lean back and take a look…
The trailer shows off more footage than we’ve seen before, but it still doesn’t give away too much of the film’s story. In case you’re curious though, that story line is as follows: “In this “coming of old age” story, a seventysomething hero, alongside his clueless wilderness ranger sidekick, travels the globe, fighting beasts and villains, and eating dinner at 3:30 in the afternoon.” Up is directed by Pete Docter, whose last feature for Pixar was the underwhelming Monsters, Inc. (I know, I’m the only one who thought it was boring.) It’s written by Bob Peterson, whose last Pixar feature was the awesome Finding Nemo.
What do you think of the new trailer? Will Pixar explore the relationship between the old man and the young scout? Is this Pixar’s take on Apt Pupil or L.I.E.?
