thirst-header

Chan-wook Park’s (Old Boy) new film, Thirst, is due in Korean theaters next month and the first trailer has finally made it’s way online.  Sure it’s in Korean with no subtitles, but you shouldn’t have too much trouble following along.  The always excellent Kang-ho Song (Memories of Murder, The Good The Bad The Weird) stars as a priest who heads to Africa to help out the sick and hungry, but makes the mistake of volunteering for an experimental treatment that quickly goes awry.  The procedure turns him into a vampire, and he tries to hold on to his humanity and his vows with little success…  Check out the trailer below.

Also new this week is the film’s first true poster.  Very stylish but apparently a bit too sexy for Park’s homeland of South Korea.  Korean priest’s don’t engage in sexual activity it seems, so posters aren’t allowed to hint at the possibility.  The film’s actual Korean title translates to “bat” which explains the imagery a bit more.  (Thanks Bloody Disgusting!)  Thirst hits Korea next month, and should reach our shores by the end of the year.

What do you think of the trailer?  The poster?  The sexual position?
