New Restricted ‘Beowulf’ Trailer Raises Eyebrows

Whilst at Comic Con this year we were treated to a lovely night of wining and dining with the folks at Paramount. They were a great group of hosts, feeding us drinks and letting us hobnob with celebs like Neil Gaiman and Roger Avary. But besides the booze and the Sci-Fi novelists, we were also treated to some slick 3D footage from their upcoming flick Beowulf. And no, we are not talking about the very Icelandic version of the Beowulf saga that starred Gerard Butler. That was Beowulf and Grendel; no one saw that one. We are talking about Beowulf! A film that will become the widest ever 3D release in history and the first film to accomplish something that we’ve all been waiting to see: improve upon the glorious hotness that is Angelina Jolie.

I know what you are thinking, “No fuckin’ way!” It is true my friends, this film’s animation effects, led by director Robert Zemeckis and the same team that made The Polar Express, has taken the curvaceous anomaly known as Ms. Jolie and digitized her. Remember how you were all secretly yearning for more of Aki from the Final Fantasy flick? This is the evolution of that. Check out the “Restricted” Trailer here or just click the image above to see what I am talking about.

Beowulf hits theaters November 16, 2007. Check out BeowulfMovie.com for more.

Will someone please explain the point of filming beautiful actresses like Angelina Jolie, and then completely rendering her in CGI to look exactly like her???? Why not just film the thing "300" style ... at least that would retain the humanness of performance, rather than these creepy mannequin people.

  • "the first film to accomplish something that we've all been waiting to see: improve upon the glorious hotness that is Angelina Jolie."

What a joke. Get off to toons much?
  • Not HerBody
sorry to burst your bubble, but the body is not hers. My fiance "auditioned" for the part of her body. They would have paid her $1,000 to stand still naked for an hour while her body was being scanned into the computer. As with many things hollywood, this is just a sham.
  • Mister Hand
Aw man. I was so hoping to see a CG representation of Angelina Jolie's real life body.

Really, I don't understand the hullaballoo. I own three movies on DVD that feature Angelina Jolie. And I own them only because she's naked in them.

I really have to learn how to NOT share.

Anyway, I've seen the trailer for this movie at the theater, and in my humble opinion, it looks like crap.

Man they must've used another model or really packed on the play dough to get jolie to look like she has some meat on her bones, she looks like shit in real life anorexic as hell hunched back f-ed up man.
  • So I put in fake information into that site because I'm bored and thought that "Jesus Jones" might want to see the trailer as well. It denied me access. What kind of database is it searching to verify the input? Do they have my social security number? Are we living in a police state?

I'm frightened. I'd be more so if I didn't have the idea of a "restricted" trailer as being anything more than a publicity stunt to laugh about.
