First Look: New Poster for John Carpenter’s ‘Riot’
Movie Marketing By Rob Hunter on November 7, 2008 | (3) Comments/Film has debuted the new poster for the upcoming John Carpenter film, Riot, starring Nicolas Cage. This is Carpenter’s first feature film since 2001′s celestial shit-pile Ghosts of Mars. His last good film? Not even great, but good? 1994′s In the Mouth of Madness, in case you’d forgotten. So while the man may have made one of the greatest films ever, The Thing, he hasn’t inspired confidence in over twenty years. But I digress… here’s the poster.
I can’t tell if it’s supposed to be flames or if it’s just yellow jumpsuit fabric. Either way, they may have hired Cage simply to give double meaning and depth to their “Uncaged 2009″ tagline. (Although the secondary tagline, “Credits Not Contractual” is also pretty witty.) Riot was originally titled Scared Straight, as it’s about a riot that occurs during a visit by troubled youths in the hopes of scaring their unruly ways out of them. When one of the teens is taken hostage during the riot, inmate Cameron Poe, sorry, Karl Rix, is tasked with his rescue. Rix is of course played by Cage. No word yet if the mullet will be joining him.
What do you think of the poster for Riot? Should they have kept Cage behind bars?
