The apocalypse is upon us. Pixar is releasing a new film in 2009 and it’s not about a superhero, fish, toy or robot. Take a moment to breathe and check out the new picture from Up.

Up is the story of  Carl Fredricksen, a grumpy old man who ties 10,000 balloons to his house in a effort to float all the way to South America. It’s not your usual story from the company that loves to bring us heartwarming tales of all shapes and sizes, but it does hopefully give Bea Arthur a chance to get more work. How is she not one of People Magazine’s 20 Sexiest People? Sigh. Anyway, people love old people. That may have been the working title of this film for all I know. Cheers to Empire Magazine for the pic.

What do you think of the image from Up? What is your favorite Pixar film?

  • I love the idea can't wait. It looks very cute especially the boyscout kid. looks like Dreamworks has another competition for next years box office.
  • They always seem to find a way to offer entertaining stories for children and adults alike. Pretty impressive.
  • Disney well Pixar, is pushing their boundaries of animation and speaking of competition they have to compete with Aliens V.S. Monsters (AVM get it like AVP Hehe! Ehhhh...I know that was lame) but I know whom I'm rootin for next years animated feature.
  • I am just happy multiple animation studios are trying to offer something worth watching. So we all win!
  • Interesting but where is Jack Lemmon?
  • He's probably the kid but I think based on the fearuttes and preview he'll probably be like dennis the menace figure in the story. I saw the preview they had in Comic-Con for this Pixar movie. They really went all the way just to make this animated movie.
