Badass for Hire

ew Line films have recently optioned the screenplay “Dan Mintner: Bad Ass for Hire” by writer Chad Kultgen (Average American Male). Kultgen has already snagged $500,000 cool ones for the script and will get another $500,000 once the film gets completed. The plot follows the titular Dan Mintner, a bad ass and highly decorated soldier who finds out his dad has been kidnapped. And then I assume it’s ass kicking time.

Kultgen has recently sold the rights to his novel, “Average American Male” and the screenplay “Burt Dickenson: The Most Powerful Magician on the Planet Earth”, which is going to be produced by Ben Stiller. Seems like ol’ Chad has a penchant for movies about individuals with long titles.

I’ve read the novel AAM and I have to say its pretty entertaining. Kultgen has got a good, immature sense of humor. His novel revolved around failing relationships, declining perfect relationships, video games, anal sex, bodily fluids, and other great stuff. Tonally it was almost similar, in a strange way, to “American Psycho,” though without all the killing and 80s references. Though if you replace the scathing criticism of the corporate world with a sharp and witty view on men in relationships, you’re on the right track. I actually recommend this book to people.

Stay tuned for more.
