A while back, we all collectively shuddered at the prospect of a new cinematic attempt at The Law. There’s an uphill battle facing the production team taking it on. Thankfully, it’s the same production team behind 28 Days Later and Sunshine. Double thankfully, we’ve also got some concept art with which to start the legitimate judging process.

Sci-Fi mecca i09 has secured some great images from Mark Simpson aka Jock, the artist behind ‘The Losers’ and, more notably, the Dredd comics.

I’m honestly not sure what to think at this point. The art looks solid – sort of like Blade Runner meets Akira. But I’m not completely blown away, and, honestly, it’s probably going to take more than good concept art to convince me that Judge Dredd belongs on screen in the first place. So maybe it’s just a small step in the right direction with many miles to go.

What do you think? Does the concept art get you going? If so, do you feel awkward about being turned on by concept art?

  • Quiet Cole, no negative waves Baby.

I want to see a solid British cast and good production values to make this rival Transformers and possibly even Iron Man. The stories are there now it will take someone with a little sense to make it happen.

I'm definitely excited for Dredd's return to the silver screen (for the record, I did enjoy the 1995 version) and even though I haven't read a single Judge Dredd comic, I'm going to right now. Speaking of comics, does anyone know what are the best Judge Dredd comics I should get. Thanks.
