Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

If you are a member of the tween crowd, or if you are just inappropriately attracted to award shows that feature Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers and Jack Black running around in tights while spewing green slime from his mouth, you may have already seen this.

Paramount has released a new television spot for the greatly anticipated Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. It played during the Nickelodeon Kids Choice awards this past weekend (right before Harrison Ford was slimed after paying homage to his idol-stealing scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark, and it is now available online. You can see it below.

Building on the already revealed shots from the trailer that dropped a few months ago, we’re getting more glimpses at the style of action that defined the first three films. Film hound Spielberg has been using more effects courtesy of digital buddy George Lucas in this movie, but it still seems to carry the flavor of an Indiana Jones film.

We get a little more of Shia LaBeouf in these clips, and I will say that he looks impressive as the Indiana Jones wannabe. Will he be able to take the reigns for an Indy V? The jury is still out.

But the most interesting part of this trailer is how many homages to earlier films are packed inside… Secret levers in the wall from Temple of Doom, an army of natives chasing Indy from Raiders, the final resting place of the ark also from Raiders, the poster image from Temple of Doom, almost-falling-off-a-ledge-during-a-car-chase peril from The Last Crusade, and oodles of Nazis to kill.

I will admit, the more I see of this movie, the more I like it. Who cares what George Lucas has to say!

Sound Off: If Indiana Jones and Iron Man had a fight, who would win… if Shia LaBeouf had Indy’s back?

Kudos to IJ4 and to all involved … for as what I can tell from the trailer … is a classic Indy flick!
