MTV has debuted a brand new 45-second clip from Paramount’s G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra this week in anticipation of tonight’s MTV Movie Awards, where an extended clip will be shown alongside clips from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Twilight: New Moon and others.

In the clip, which can be seen via the player below, we see The Baroness (Sienna Miller) and Storm Shadow (Byung-hun Lee) as they attempt to fire some sort of ecological warhead at the Eiffel Tower in Paris. But hot on their trail are Duke (Channing Tatum) and Ripcord (Marlon Wayans) in their accelerator suits (which are one part kinda cool, one part ‘why god?!’).

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra hits theaters on August 7, 2009. It is directed by Stephen Sommers.

Note: We’ve updated this post with the extended clip below. Enjoy.

  • suits me just fine.
  • Ray
I see what you did there
  • What did debaser just do, ray, tell us or anyone else that know what he did?

It's almost like "Team America: World Police" parodied this movie years before it came out.
  • Ah, the suits. If "Starship Troopers" had used something like that it would have been MUCH more faithful to the book, and much better movies.
  • Agreed, but Paul Verhoven stated something to the effect of it being too costly and it would cover the actors faces.
  • Ok and it is finally offical. That looks and sounds NOTHING like G.I.Joe. The Baroness sounded like Paris Hilton with a gun, Storm Shadow looked like a Jackie Chane reject and I don't mean because he is Asian. I also like how the Joes were decked out in armor so the first thing he does is take his helmet off before he jumps.
  • Kill shot
why this guy didn`t replicated the nano suits of crysis thats all you have to do man come on!

I think it would be an awesome movie if it wasnt named gi joe like "Robot Suits Blowin' Shit Up!" instead. If i set the gi joe stuff aside it looks kinda awesome. Anyway I really cant complain about a movie where a man shoots slime onto a slender phallus in the trailer...
  • Look, The movie is great, plain and simple. Let be honest here, its G.I.Joe!! A movie based on a past-time childhood cartoon......lets say that one more time...A CARTOON! If you are going to the movie for anything other than a fictional story, then you might wanna go and check out the taking of panhelm 123 or the secret life of bees. But if you want a great movie packed with a ton of action, technology that is a bit in the future, and a story and graphics that will remind you of your favorite G.I.Joe Characters come to life, then please go see the movie! It's not meant to be anything than a movie based on a story that we enjoyed as kids. in that department I give it a 100 and I can't wait until the next one.
