New Fanboys Trailer Likely to Be Too Little, Too Late

Fanboys Trailer Header

I am beginning to get the feeling that most people have lost interest in the movement to save Fanboys, the Kyle Newman directed road trip comedy that plays out like a love letter to Star Wars. The film stars a group of young actors, most of whom are more famous now than they were when this film was originally supposed to come out — like Tropic Thunder and 40-Year Old Virgin star Jay Baruchel and Balls of Fury star Dan Fogler. The film also features tons of geeky cameos, introduced as their infamous fictional selves. There is Lando Calrissian, Princess Leia, James T. Kirk and that guy from Die Hard 4… Have a look for yourself below.

I no longer have the will nor the interest in commenting on this film — I am saving my energy for when it finally comes out on February 6, 2009 — if that is the real date.

What do you think of the new Fanboys trailer?

I've begun to feel as if this movie is a myth and only the trailers exist.

My disgust for Lucas will not allow me to see any movie that trys to make him out like anything but the shell if the man he once was. Any movie that demi-gods his legacy is on my shit list.

The script was hilarious, I'll see it. Sad it took this long for it to actually come around.

This movie would make more sense if Star Wars turned out to ba a good film rather then the festering piece of trash it was. At this point I would root for the charcters NOT to make it to Skywalker Ranch so they are spared the pain of seeing the biggest F up put on screen in the last 20 years.

    Which version is getting released?
Didn't they recut it to get rid of the cancer kid subplot?
  • As someone who's seen it (with the cancer plot) I have to say that if you really dig Star Wars, you should go see it.

Don't let disgust for the new SW or Lucas get in the way of enjoying a really good flick with a ton of references. Plus, it has the guy from Die Hard 4! Weird that Seth Rogen wasn't in the trailer...

Also, they deal with the possibility of Star Wars 1 sucking, which is cool. And which it did.

On the other hand, if you don't know anything about Star Wars, you won't understand anything about this movie.

Cool. Thanks for the heads-up. Hearing some positive feedback from someone makes me want to see the movie again.
  • I'm looking forward to it but it's hard to know when we in the UK will get it.

Yeah...Jay Baruchel did not come out in 40 Year Old Virgin!....Maybe they need to do their research....otherwise...trailer looks great!!! I have been waiting for this movie too long now....its about time!
