The Hollywood Reporter is, well, reporting, that Sky High cutie Danielle Panabaker has signed on as the lead in the Platinum Dunes remake of Friday the 13th. It was previously reported that Amanda Righetti was set to match breasts vs machetes, though it is currently unknown if that’s no longer the case. Some resources still list her as attached, though the HR doesn’t include her in the list of co-stars. Interesting.

The new Friday will see appearances by Jared Padalecki, Jonathan Sadowski, Travis van Winkle and Aaron Yoo. Panabaker will reportedly be playing the girlfriend to van Winkle, who’s character is said to be the rich alpha male, which should probably be read as “rich douchebag.”

All of the regular cliches (rich kid, cute innocent girl, dork, et al) are showing up in this movie, so perhaps there is a place for hottie Righetti (to play the slut) to still be in the cast. Marcus Nispel is directing and the film will be released through New Line in 2009.
