The folks at Disney/Pixar have updated the official website of their upcoming film Up with a brand new clip. The film is a comedy adventure about 78-year-old balloon salesman Carl Fredricksen, who finally fulfills his lifelong dream of a great adventure when he ties thousands of balloons to his house and flies away to the wilds of South America. But he discovers all too late that his biggest nightmare has stowed away on the trip: an overly optimistic 8-year-old Wilderness Explorer named Russell.

Though short and lite on plot revelation, the clip does show off some astounding animation, which is not surprising coming from Pixar. The early buzz from those who saw 45 minutes of this film at Butt-Numb-a-thon in Austin this week is that it is absolutely fantastic. Deven Faraci from CHUD.com went as far as to call it preemptively one of the “best movies of 2009.” Have a look for yourself below.

Up hits theaters on May 29, 2009.

  • Haha, Russell is cute he looks like a chubby korean kid. I saw this is SD Comic-Con this year with the Bolt presentation and I was quite impress with how they've manage to come up with this idea especially travelling down to South America for ideas. This movie will be visually stunning since they've upgraded their rendering of landscapes and locations Pixar has been pushing the limits and boundaries and it is not a suprise coming from them (Sorry Dreamworks, I still love you guys).

Was it shown in 2D or 3D?
  • I'm totally looking forward to this movie. Monsters Inc is my favorite pixar movie so far, so I'm hoping Pete Docter will have another hit on his hands.
