New ‘Education’ Trailer Wants You to Choose Fun

Neil went apey for An Education when he saw it at Sundance, giving it an A and then calling out Oscar buzz when the first trailer hit.

Now the second trailer is laying around the internet here somewhere, and it’s got a very different vibe. If the first was the serious, Oscar-bait style tease, this one is the Thinking For Yourself and Not Bowing to Society is Totally Rebellious and Cool version. Which is pretty cool still, since Nick Hornby seems to be the only writer out there that can get that cheesy and not drown himself, the characters and the audience in melted cheddar.

Looks happy, sweet, and has a sense of humor about Peter Sarsgaard’s lasting time sex-wise. Always quality.

I can’t say personally whether this thing has Oscar written on it considering that the trailer seems like a lot of Hornby adaptations, and it has the same old familiar feeling of a young girl torn between doing what’s expected and doing what’s romanticized and adventurous. Although I’m curious how the young girl with older man love story angle is received by the masses at large.

What do you think?

OMFG, a chick flick I'd actually go see.

I fell in love with this movie from the first trailer, which is better. I'm excited to see it. Though someone told me how it ended when I mentioned I'd be there on opening day. I then beat the person. Still gonna see it. I don't think people will care much about older guy dating younger girl. Women will think about when they were teenagers and fantasied about that same thing.
