Must-See Trailer: Pixar’s Wall-E
Posted by Neil Miller (neil@filmschoolrejects.com) on December 18, 2007

If you have not yet met Wall-E (pictured above), then you are in for quite a surprise. We first met him at Comic Con in August, but the world has been slowly warming to him ever since. He is the star of Pixar’s next film — which follows in the footsteps of the very successful Ratatouille.
Personally, I love Pixar to death — they just do animated features (and shorts) right. But Wall-E will mark the first time that I have ever cocked my head to the side and said “Huh?” when the great Andrew Stanton has announced a project. So let me get this straight — it is a film about a cute little robot who has been stranded on Earth for 700 years by himself. I will buy that, but once you tell me that the little dude doesn’t talk and there are no humans around for much of the movie, you’ve lost me. But even through my skepticism, I am still holding out hope that this will somehow turn into another great film — Pixar is yet to disappoint me.
Take a look at the latest trailer for Wall-E, viewable below. Wall-E hits theaters on June 27, 2008.

I’m totally in love with Wall-E. He doesn’t need to talk with that much emotion in his eye/receptor things. I’m really looking forward to this, more than any CGI film that I can remember.

You have to be kidding me - WALL-E looks incredible. The fact that there is no dialogue in most of this movie was a major plus to me. Watch the first 15 minutes of There Will Be Blood. Being able to tell a story without having to rely on words equates to some incredible cinematic sequences.

Hey, most of the previews for “Cars” looked uninteresting, this at least looks promising. I agree with the talk-backers here, I’m sure there will be some dialogue eventually in the film, because otherwise it’s gonna be hard to get the kids to sit through it.

I’m excited for this movie, but the main character (or, “main robot”) has a startling resemblance to another heart warming robot: Johnny-Five.

What is the name of that song used in the trailer?

I’m with Peter here - this looks fantastic and I’m not sure why you’re missing the excitement on this one. It’s Pixar, you should know they won’t screw up. Secondly, he’s such a cute frickin’ robot and if you watch the trailers you’ll know that. Only amazing things can come from a little guy that damn cute! The fact that he’s going to leave earth and go save humanity in some way is what gets me more curious. I think you just need to keep watching these trailers and keep looking at the Pixar aspect and just what we’ll expect - then you’ll get it.

Alex, you and Peter are right on the money. Wall-E is the movie I’m looking forward to the most next year. Saw the trailer ahead of National Treasure, and I was sucked in on the big screen.

Yea Neil… C’mon! Get with it! :P
I saw Nat Treas at the theater last night with a sold out crowd and this Wall-E trailer played in front of it. It had the most vocal / loud responses out of any preview that showed. People were laughing at every new scene except at the end got the “but wait, is there more?” feeling which I feared.
But I LOVE the way they’re marketing this with the trailers. Each new one adds about another 30 seconds onto it continuing the story. The first few introduced Wall-E, then this latest one adds on the story of the ship coming to earth and Wall-E hitching a ride on it. Where to from there?!
