Movies You Should See: Chaos Theory
Posted by Neil Miller (neil@filmschoolrejects.com) on April 9, 2008

It appears that the upcoming comedy Chaos Theory, which stars Ryan Reynolds as a guy who decides to intentionally throw a wrench or two into his own seemingly smooth existence in order to feel like he is living, has slipped by me somehow.
It makes me a little angry, in fact, as I am a big fan of Ryan Reynolds — I will defend that his final scene in Smokin’ Aces was quite poetic until the day I die, mind you — and I am a fan of Emily Mortimer, who co-stars in the film. From the trailer, which I have included below for your enjoyment, I can see that this appears to be a very solid indie comedy. On top of that, I read the review from our own Cole Abaius (which goes live on Thursday, so be sure to come back) that basically gushes all over it as one of the better comedies of the year. It reminds me a lot of the SXSW surprise The Promotion, with Seann William Scott and John C. Reilly — smart, lower budget comedy. Hopefully it will find an audience and get a wider release.
Speaking of releases, Chaos Theory opens in select markets this Friday, April 11th. Even though I haven’t seen it, I think it looks more than worthy of a look this weekend.
