Hello all! Happy Tuesday to the Reject Nation. Today is filled with some somber news, as Hollywood loses another great and some interesting news as downloads and iPods are on the tips of everyone’s tongues. So let’s get right into it.

Smokin AcesTuesday New Release Day is Hot!

Today is New Release day in the world of DVDs, and there is much to be had. From shocking documentaries made by the guy who invented the internet to comedies to the second coming of Ice Age, it seems like there is something for everyone. Our own all-star critic Chris Beaumont provides the details over at Blog Critics.org with his DVD Pick of the Week.

Rest in Peace, Robert Altman.

Hollywood has lost another great this week. 81 year old director Robert Altman, most affectionately remembered by me as the director of Popeye, passed away today. The cause of his death is yet unknown, but it is truly a sad day for the movie world. Quint over at Ain’t it Cool has written a very nice eulogy-esque post that is well worth a read.

Carrell gets ‘Smart’ with Anne Hathaway.

Steve Carrell, who stars in next years big budgeted romp Evan Almighty, is also working on a re-envisioning of the classic TV series Get Smart. He is set to play Maxwell Smart, and has been for a while. But today there are rumors coming from CHUD.com that Anne Hathaway is joining the cast as Agent 99. Very exciting, indeed.

New ‘Smokin’ Aces’ Poster F’ing rules!

Who is not excited about Smokin’ Aces? If this film were a chick, I would be drunk and hitting on it. A stellar cast, blood, bullets and a deviously scheming bad guy in Jeremy Piven is more than enough for me. JoBlo has unleashed the film’s new poster unto the world, and it can be seen to the right of all this gibberish. Enjoy!

Bond gets downloaded, heavily!

Lexi over at Cinema Blend is reporting that the latest notch in the James Bond belt, Casino Royale is taking internet bootlegging to new heights. Even though it opened well in both the UK and in the US, it has still been downloaded over 200,000 times over the internet, furthering the argument that internet piracy is not effecting box office outcomes. My thoughts – there is no substitute for the movie theater experience. If you need to steal movies, then that is your prerogative. If you are a true fan of film, you will not be shy to pay $10 for a seat.

That is your news this morning afternoon. My apologies for the tardiness of the announcements, but some of us do sleep sometimes. Stick with us for tomorrow, as we will have a fresh new Over/Under for you and some more killer movie reviews!

If you need movie reviews right now, though, here are some hot ones:

Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny – by Cole Abaius
Casino Royale – by Chris Beaumont
Bobby – by Neil Miller
Stranger than Fiction – by Brian Gibson

Until tomorrow…
