Dateline: Wednesday November 15, 2006

Here we meet again, and Wednesday is hump day! Wednesday also marks another special occassion - Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes in the news!! Well, mostly just Katie, but you can rest assure that Tom is involved somehow. Allow me to elaborate…

Katie Holmes not ‘Smoking’ anymore.
This is something that I reported on this morning… Yes, you read that right. Film School Rejects reporting the news. Cool! Anyway, Katie Holmes has been left off the listing of actors whom critics and award givers should be considering for the film Thank You for Smoking. Is there a conspiracy, or have people just given up hope for Katie? Maybe a bit of both.

John Hughes + Owen Wilson = Funny picture.
(via JoBlo)
Fans of the man who created teen angst in the 1980s are joyous that Mr. Hughes has returned to partially pen an upcoming film called Drillbit Taylor. And while the Brat Pack may be gone, a member of the Frat Pack is hanging in for this one… As you can see by the picture of Owen Wilson, playing the lead roll.

Kristin Cavallari is hot for ‘Nerds’
(via VH1 Movies)
I was relatively unaware of Kristin Cavallari until a good friend of mine dragged me all over Southern California in search of her earlier in the year. And while myself and my stalker-ish friend never made it to her, she did make it to Hollywood - and then some. Cavallari is just wrapping up shooting on a remake of Revenge of the Nerds, the “sans Booger” remake. Oh the excitement…

There will be a Beach Boys Movie (via Comingsoon.net)
Reports this week say that Brian Wilson has made a deal with producer Mark Gordon to tell his life story in a feature film. Such a development raises many questions, such as “Why?” and “Wasn’t the documentary enough?” Answers to follow…

A ‘Borat’ Sequel? Very nice! (via Cinema Blend)
Who wouldn’t go see a Borat sequel? If you aren’t compelled to buy The Ali G Show: Da Compleet Seereez after seeing this film, then there is something wrong with you. Thankfully for fans, Jay Roach (producer of Borat) has been talking a lot about a sequel. Of course, something along those lines would be great success for country of Kazakhstan, among other things.

That is the news for today, ruffians. Come back tomorrow, and I assure you there will be more Borat!
