Nothing brewing in the world of movie news this morning…

Just kidding. Here is your fix:

Borat bannedThe Spiderman 3 Trailer is Online! (via ComingSoon.net)
Can you say, anticlimactic? The movie just needs to be released. Stop teasing us, Sam Raimi. The action looks cool, the black suit looks fake and I still can’t get the drunken bafoon version of Thomas Hayden Church from Sideways out of my mind. Oh well, at least there is plenty of time for adjustment…

Borat will be great success!
(via VH1 Movie News)
This falls biggest… um… something-or-other Borat is expanding this week to 2,000+ theaters. In weekend #1, it made more than $26 million in just over $800 screens. Based on my calculations, it should gross around $200 million this weekend. You can’t argue, it’s science.

Borat banned in Mother Russia!
(via JoBlo)
More Borat news… The neighbor of Borat’s home country, the glorious nation of Kazakhstan, Russia has banned the film because it may be offensive to certain nationalities and religions. On the contrary, Commorades, it is offensive to just about every nationality and religion. Get with the program.

Someone said ‘Borat’ and ‘Oscar’ in same sentence. Very Nice!
(via VH1 Movie News)
Amazing, with all the hype around the Spiderman 3 trailer, this morning’s workout is chalked full of Borat. This time it is someone who is actually going to “go there” and say that Borat may be Oscar worthy. Hmm… An interesting thought indeed. Maybe the Academy will wise up this year and pick the man of the people. Or not. I wouldn’t count on it. But it will win tons of MTV Movie Awards!

Basil Poledouris has passed away. (via AICN)
Feeling the need to end on a downer, we are sorry to re-report that composer Basil Poledouris has passed away, losing his battle with cancer. My favorite Poledouris score? Starship Troopers. In fact, that may have been the only redeeming quality of that film. Either way he will be greatly missed.

Whether it makes you happy or sad, that is the news…
