‘Monsters University’ Teaser Trailer Wakes Up With Pizza On Its Face

Pixar and Disney are going back to college (and back into sequel/prequel territory) with Monsters University. The movie, of course, acts as a feeder school into Monsters, Inc., and features John Goodman and Billy Crystal in their old/younger voice roles.
The film is being directed by Dan Scanlon (one of the writers on Cars), and while it’s not at all an indicator of quality, this first teaser trailer is pretty dull. It’s not at all imbued with the kind of Pixar magic we’ve come to love – with its generic voice over and obvious gags. The timing doesn’t even seem right.
Check it out for yourself:
Hopefully this isn’t a preview of what’s to come (since most teasers aren’t), but there are certainly hurdles to face when returning with beloved characters and a filmmaking team led by someone with little in the way of a directing resume. This doesn’t exactly build confidence.
By the way, there are three other teaser trailers that are exactly the same except for what Mike says in his sleep (“My pony made the Dean’s List,” “Class President?” and a concern about showing up to class without clothes on).
