Miyazaki Genius: 13 New Beautiful ‘Ponyo’ Pics

There’s something strange about these new images that a Mouse left on our doorstep, but I can’t quite my finger on it. Maybe it’s the minimalist style that’s rarely done for main characters. Maybe it’s the color choices that Miyazaki and team Ghibli are making. Maybe it’s the fact that they were delivered by a mouse.

Still, they are really beautiful I think. But you should decide for yourself. Stop letting me tell you how to live your life:

It’s definitely a different look, although there’s still a few tell-tale Miyazaki style points – specifically in the image with the whale rider in the ocean and the close-up of the two children’s faces.

Ponyo opens in limited markets on August 14th.

everybody laughed in the theater when the preview for this movie came on, I must say that it looks ridiculously stupid, I really don't find what is so beautiful about these movies? Could somebody enlighten me?

you actually have too see a Miyazaki/team Ghibli film to get why they are loved, a few words in a comments box cant do them justice. However they are a kinda love 'em or hate 'em thing.

How are these pics new BTW? its been out in japan since last year, so the pics have been about for a while. Its a great film, not as good as spirited away (which admitedly is hard to beat) but still really good
