Milla Jovovich to Star in Another Bad Movie Based on a Video Game?

Posted by Mister Hand (misterhand@filmschoolrejects.com) on October 15, 2008

As of yesterday, Bloody Disgusting confirmed that the always lovely (but most annoying person imaginable on a commentary track) Milla Jovovich was set to star in…

…really?

Another movie based on a video game? Another movie based on another survival horror video game?

Well, maybe not. Yesterday, a source confirmed to BD that Milla was to star in a new adaptation of Clock Tower. Today, however, an official Milla fansite has denied the story. I hope they’re right. Milla is a talented actress who deserves better roles, despite her rather shrill personality in real life.

It just so happens that I played Clock Tower back in the day, and as I recall it was basically a low-rent version of the Resident Evil games. Can you imagine the movie based on a video game that was a bad, Americanized copy of a video game that spawned at best one half good movie and two terrible sequels?

Don’t do it, Milla. Let somebody put you in a good movie for a change.

Currently, Clock Tower is set to be directed by Martin Weisz (The Hills Have Eyes 2), has a host of writers including the talented Todd Farmer, and has Brittany Snow on board. It’s early in the game, so, as usual, things are subject to change.

What do you think? Should Jovovich keep starring in video game movies? Is there someone else that would be better for Clock Tower? Did we post this news just to find pictures of Milla Jovovich?

  • Did the original Clock Tower video game have lots of action? I seem to remember it was following the trail of a killer by searching for clues. Given Milla's proclivities, I don't see how they can cast her if she can't tote guns or jump kick canines.

Milla should just give up all hope of doing good movies and sign on with Uwe Boll.

Man, I was never into Jovovich, but then I saw that picture. You guys just flipped my world upside down.

D Train Milla is a cover model or used to do modeling then she turned actress. This woman is multi-talented cuz she sings too (personally I haven't heard her but that but of hers is rockin).

Personally I think she needs to stop doing the RE movies I'm getting sick of it. Also I think she is better off playing other roles but I do believe she did try.

Sorry have to disagree with most of the posters in this thread. Milla is beautiful and I myself enjoyed the two resident evil movies, screw whether they were like the video game. Comparing them to the shit that Ewe Boll makes is way too harsh. More Milla, but not like Ultraviolet, even I didn't like that one.
  • I will agree that all three of the RE movies are superior to the best Uwe Boll film, but the first movie is middling to decent at best, and the other two are still not very good.
  • D Train
So will Scissorman be in this?? And if so will he be running around with a huge pair of scissors?? Looked great for a 16-bit videogame, but in a film??

Milla works well in the sci-fi/action movies, but she needs to expand her horizons a bit. 5th Element is fantastic, and Leeloo is a great character. She has downgraded from there and could do a little damage control to become a little more respected and hopefully find a few more 5th Element level films.

The original clock tower didnt have much action, but what it did have was amazing
    suspense for a PS1 game

And also whoever said it was a rip of resident evil

clock tower came out in 1995 and resident evil came out in 1996

obviously resident evil is extremely better being a cult classic
but i own clock tower and its still fun to go back to those shitty controls, and the
scissor man jumping out places you dont expect ^_^
  • Leon, you may be right. It is entirely possible that I've misremembered. Perhaps I played RE first, went back to CLOCK TOWER, and found that RE had advanced the formula so far CLOCK TOWER seemed quaint.
