I think she's talented enough to pull it off, but if I'm being honest, the one living actress who embodies the spirit and the voice of Marilyn is Nicole Kidman. No, she doesn't have the legendary icon's much lauded curves, but she has the girlish charm, the tiny giggle and the breathy voice which all are equally as important, if not more so. Anyone can look like Monroe, with the right makeup and the basic anatomy, but very few can actually capture the spirit of Marilyn. Kidman does so by not even trying. Alas, the surgical nightmares she has subjected her face to have dashed her chances of ever playing the role for real. Marilyn never got the chance to make good on her word, but she did say she wanted to have the courage to grow old naturally. All digressions aside, I'm itching to see how Michelle Williams handles the role. Here's hoping she steps up to the plate and knocks it out of the park!

Michelle Williams was truly terrible as a glamor puss in I'm Not There, definetely the weakest link of that film, and absolutely atrocious as a mysterious sexy woman in Deception, so how on earth can she ever play sex goddess Monroe? She just isn't right for the role. Scarlett would have been perfect, or even Charlize Theron. They can do sexy, they can do vulnerable, they can do kooky.....Michelle Williams can't.
