Casting Couch
Michael Sheen, Matt Lucas Join Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland

As we told you a few days ago, principal photography has begun on Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, the highly anticipated re-imagining of Lewis Carroll’s classic tale. In fact, we showed you some photos the other day of Mia Wasikowska, the film’s leading young lady. But up until now, the only cast that had been officially confirmed was Wasikowska as Alice and Johnny Depp as The Mad Hatter. That is, until today.
We start by heading over to Slashfilm, who has uncovered the news that Little Britain and Shaun of the Dead star Matt Lucas has signed on for the role(s) of Tweedledee and Tweedledum. As well, Variety is reporting that Michael Sheen has signed on to play a still unannounced role. Sheen is best known for his portrayal of various real-life British figures, including former Prime Minister Tony Blair in Stephen Frears’ The Deal and The Queen, and most recently as talk show host David Frost in Ron Howard’s Frost/Nixon.
It is hard to speculate at this point what part Sheen will play, but that doesn’t change the fact that he’s a quality addition to another solid Tim Burton-chosen cast. We will continue to keep an eye on the production and update you as it moves forward.
What do you think of the cast thus far for Tim Burton’s Alice?
