Sam Mendes Tries Hand at Comedy
Movie News By Cole Abaius on January 25, 2008 | Be the First To Comment
While Sam Mendes is known for achingly beautiful projects like American Beauty and Road to Perdition, he’s going to be shedding the drama mask in favor of a comedy project.
He’ll be directing a script written by Dave Eggers (another artist known for touching, heartfelt work) and Vendela Vida. Eggers and Vida work closely together through magazine The Believer and McSweeney’s and because they happen to be married to each other.
Our friends at Variety have the full scoop.
Since I’m reading Eggers’s What is the What right now, it’s nice to see that his work will be turned into celluloid. It looks like Spike Jonze will help in bringing that novel onto the big screen. Now, if we could only get that adaptation of A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius we’d be set.
