Meet the Spartans: Hollywood’s Next Great Parody Blunder

Just in case you didn’t think that this weekend’s release The Comebacks was bad enough, here is another bad idea to keep your Netflix queue full of crappy flicks. Writer/Director Jason Friedberg (one of the 6 writers of each of the Scary Movie installments as well as the guy who helmed Epic Movie) is directing Meet the Spartans, a comedy that parodies this year’s smash hit sword and sandals flick 300. Of course, this is not to be confused with 301: The Legend of Awesomest Maximus Wallace Leonidas starring Entourage’s Kevin Dillon. That’s right, no retraction necessary here folks: there are going to be 2 300 parodies released in 2008. Can you feel it? That is the sound of starving children in Africa crying, something that is quite possibly more entertaining than the prospect of these two movies.

Anyhoo, the photo above is the first shot from Meet the Spartans, courtesy of our friends at IGN. I’d tell you to stay tuned for more, but I know that you aren’t that interested to begin with.
