You hipsters out there will have undoubtedly heard that Lucas Film is going to be releasing a Star Wars themed CGI cartoon show late next year. Early previews of the show look decidedly bad-ass. The show, entitled Star Wars: Clone Wars and not to be confused with Star Wars: The Clone Wars that aired on Cartoon Network, will, obviously, take place during the Clone Wars era. This is pretty cool, as the Cartoon Network show kicked ass and the movies didn’t give me enough sweet battles between the Clone Troopers and all them nasty droids.

But for a dose of even better news, TheForce.net has heard word that maybe, just maybe, the TV show will first hit theaters in some sort of launch special. Lucas Film has declined to confirm this, though they have admitted to it being one of several possible release methods. I’d totally be down with a 90 minute CGI epic to get the ball rolling. Either way, Star Wars: Clone Wars will be storming something in August of 2008, and whether its the cineplex or just your home TV has yet to be decided. Either way, I’m in and my vote is for theaters! Get the full scoop and audio clip at TheForce.net.
