I’ve never liked Maxim since I saw their best and worst bands list. The Doors are one of the worst bands of all time??

Looks like their movie taste isnt too much better, either.

Wow! It’s my brothers top 25 most watched movies! Of course, it is most watched, by those who don’t watch movies for the “art” of it, mostly only for the T&A. I am happy to say that I have never bought Maxim.

Brett Ratner is going to remake The Bicycle Thief and 8 1/2 just for the Maxim readers. :P

True, teens aren’t watching movies a lot anymore. I don’t think the numbers are too bad. I can’t expect a 16 year old to have seen The Bicycle Thief. I think we all start with newer movies and work our way to the older ones.

I would never recommend that ANYONE watch “Salo.” That fucking movie will put images in your head that you’ll want gone but will never go away.

And that’s not a “dare you to see it” statement. At all.

Of course they don’t have marketing power – they’re not current movies. I think the main point that I never really came through with is that given the target demographic and the time frame of the most popular movies they’ve seen, it’s incredibly clear that its a group of people who aren’t seeing anything that came out before they came of age.

It’s a lack in cultural (namely cinematic) literacy. I have no fear that the classics are getting passed over or not being seen. They are. Just not by the Maxim crowd. These are, stereotypically the same idiots with Scarface posters in their dorm rooms, and they’ve never seen The Godfather.

I’m not personally bothered by that, I’ll just be avoiding these people at parties.

See I wouldn’t consider myself a film snob either (despite going to film school and seeing my fair share of movies) and I haven’t seen a good portion of the movies you name in the less than 15% have seen…

You gotta realize that alot of those movies don’t have the marketing power behind them that something stupid like Austin Powers would have. I’m actually surprised there aren’t more Will Ferrel related movies in that top 10.
