MTV Movies Blog is reporting that Matt Frewer — best known as the stuttering, sarcastic 80′s icon Max Headroom — has joined the cast of Zack Snyder’s highly anticipated Watchmen.
Frewer will play Moloch the Mystic, a satanic supervillain and magician. In Alan Moore’s graphic novel, Moloch is a much talked about but mostly ancillary character who meets an unfortunate demise. The blame for Moloch’s murder is placed on Rorschach (played by Jackie Earl Haley) and it serves as a key point in the building tension between the deteriorating world and the formerly beloved “masked” heroes.
Frewer joins the already stellar cast that includes Patrick Wilson, Jackie Earl Haley, Billy Crudup, Malin Akerman, Matthew Goode and Carla Gugino. MTV is reporting that Frewer’s agent has confirmed that he is currently shooting scenes on location.
Watchmen opens March 6, 2009.
