We have a neat first look at the poster for Robert Rodriguez’s upcoming action flick Machete. For those of you who saw Grindhouse in theaters or Planet Terror on DVD, you’ll recognize this flick as one of the “fake” trailers, though now it seems oh so real. Machete will follow the adventures of an Ex-Federale hired by a Congressman to do some dirty work who gets betrayed – and then gets revenge.

RR has said he has shot about 40 minutes of footage for this film already just in making the trailer and fan reaction convinced him to go the rest of the way. Early rumor said Machete would end up as a direct to DVD release paired with Planet Terror, but that’s clearly not the case. There is a slight chance that Machete will go to theaters in 2008 and an even smaller chance that it will be paired with Werewolf Women of the SS, from director Rob Zombie, who teased that movie on his MySpace page.

Now I don’t want to get any false ideas out there, but that has been the rumble. Odds are still on a straight to DVD Machete, but if it ends up being even half as fucking cool as the trailer and poster make it look, I’d pay $14 to see it on the big screen.

Stay tuned.

Editor’s Note: None of the information in the article above is article. They are not making a Machete movie. We were totally fucking with you.
