Leo DiCaprio Signs on to Chris Nolan’s Inception

It seems fitting that we just wrote about the trailer for Pandorum this morning, as it appears to be a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind. Coincidentally, that is the exact same description that Warner Bros. is giving for Christopher Nolan’s next film, Inception. And even though the script for the next from The Dark Knight director is being kept under wraps, we’ve got a good feeling about it. Because lets face it, a script has to be decent to attract talent such as Leonardo DiCaprio, who has officially signed on to the project according to Variety.
Don’t get me wrong — DiCaprio is no Daniel Day-Lewis, and his involvement doesn’t necessarily mean that a film is going to be special, but his recent track record would suggest that his agent is pretty good at picking scripts. Last year he gave a stunning performance in Revolutionary Road and showed off his underrated action chops in Ridley Scott’s Body of Lies and this year he’s already teamed with Martin Scorsese on Shutter Island. As well, I would like to point out how nice it is to see Christopher Nolan bringing some great new talent into the fold. He’s made three straight films with Christian Bale in a title role. And though there is nothing wrong with that, a change of pace could bring some freshness to his filmography. Personally, I don’t see how anyone couldn’t be excited about this combination.
The project, which is being produced by Nolan’s wife Emma Thomas, is scheduled to begin shooting later this year and will hit theaters in the Summer of 2010.
What do you think about Leo DiCaprio teaming up with Christopher Nolan?
