Laura Vandervoort Goes Into the Blue

You may be wondering why I have been giving so much coverage to the upcoming film Into the Blue 2, the sequel to the 2005 ab-athon that starred Paul Walker and Jessica Alba. For one, I dig movies that involve surfing. Additionally, the sequel, which is to be directed by Stephen Herek of Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure fame, will now feature two of my favorite paparazzi targets, the previously reported Audrina Patridge and Smallville’s Supergirl Laura Vandervoort.
Vandervoort, regarded by me as one of the hottest things to come out of Canada since Canadian Bacon, will play a member of a scuba team that is hired to find Christopher Columbus’ hidden treasure. Funny, I didn’t know that Columbus had hidden treasure. Oh well… I suppose I am not looking for plausibility in this film — I am really just in it for the surfing.
MGM is currently gunning for a 2010 release date for Into the Blue 2, which should begin shooting in Hawaii sometime later this year.
